What Are The Bacterial Vaginosis Symptoms Actually?

One reason that women don’t have a clue realize they have bacterial vaginosis is that they aren’t aware of what the bacterial vaginosis symptoms are, so they don’t recognize them when they occur.

In several cases, women are so poorly informed about what a ‘normal’ vaginal environment is that they put up with bacterial vaginosis symptoms, believing that it is normal and just something that they have to live with, instead of getting bacterial vaginosis treatment. And of course, there are women that don’t have any symptoms of this disorder at all.

    The Symptoms

    Unpleasant Vaginal Odor

For the women who have bacterial vaginosis symptoms, the most usual one is an unpleasant or fishy vaginal odor.

The severity of this vaginosis symptom can range from

    - mild, meaning the odor is barely noticeable, to
    - quite severe, where the smell is noticeable to other people, also when the woman suffering from it is fully clothed.

It’s understandable that this unpleasant vaginal odor is not only the most common of the bacterial vaginosis symptoms but also the symptom that most motivates women to see their doctor.

    Change in the Vaginal Discharge

Another common bacterial vaginosis symptom is a change in the vaginal discharge. It’s easy to confuse this with yeast infection.

    - With a yeast infection the discharge can turn thick, whitish and with what has been commonly described as a ‘cottage cheese’ appearance.

    - With a bacterial vaginosis, however, the discharge is thinner, with a milk-white or grayish color, and some patients will experience a mild burning sensation from it. These symptoms are often accompanied by this unpleasant fishy smell, but can occur on its own as well.

    The PH Level Is High

The key indicator of bacterial vaginosis is at the same time the most difficult for women to diagnose for themselves. The symptom is a high PH level. The problem of identifying it is that you can’t do it by sight or feel.

    You must

    - either go to your physician or
    - using pH strips that will measure the level of your vaginal pH.

If you have 4.2 or less you are normal, anything above is not.

If you experience on or more of these bacterial vaginosis symptoms, I recommend that you visit your physician to get a proper diagnosis and also to rule out any other diseases or conditions. As soon as you have a diagnosis you can start the bacterial vaginosis treatment aiming to get rid of your bacterial vaginosis for good. I know of a method that has been proven to help women getting rid of their bacterial vaginosis and its symptoms permanently, and it can cure your vaginosis permanently as well.
