Learn About Bacterial Vaginosis Causes And How To Get Rid Of Them Once And For All
It is a fact that lots of women actually do not know very much about the condition called bacterial vaginosis and even less when it comes to what the bacterial vaginosis causes are. And while the medical science hasn’t come to a definitive conclusion as to what the true cause is they are pretty sure that they are beginning to truly understand its causes and why it occurs. Once we know the true causes then it will be easier to find the right bacterial vaginosis treatment as well as prevent them in the first place.
What most physicians and other medical professionals can agree on is that it is most likely that one of the main causes of this condition is an imbalance in the bacterial levels in the vagina. The vagina normally contains what is referred to as both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria; the bacterial vaginosis condition occurs when something happens to let which allows ‘bad’ bacteria to overgrow and overwhelm the good.
Then the next question is obvious; what makes these ‘bad’ bacteria overgrow? What we’re asking for actually is what is causing the bacterial vaginosis causes? As already mentioned, the medical science hasn’t reached a definitive conclusion yet, but recently published research pinpoints the imbalance occurring as a result of a change in the pH balance of the vagina.
A ‘good’ bacteria such as Lactobacillus is a specie that thrives in the optimal vaginal pH balance of around 3.5-4.2, which is slightly acidic. Then we have the ‘bad’ bacteria like for example Gardnerella vaginallis which is considered to be the main cause of the bacterial vaginosis symptoms. It thrives in a more alkaline environment at pH levels of 4.3 and above. This is why doctors and other medical professionals are beginning to think that pH balance in the vagina is the ultimate starting point of the causes of this unpleasant condition.
You can’t know what the pH balance of your vagina is just by looking at it or feeling it. You can check your pH balance is by going to your doctor or by checking it yourself with specially made pH balance strips that you can purchase at any health supplies store.
Because of lack of hard evidence - some causes can be very hard to prove - the medical profession hesitates to come out and ultimately state that this is the true cause of bacterial vaginosis. In this case, the medical profession has neither been able to prove that the pH imbalance causes bacterial vaginosis, nor that the bacterial vaginosis causes the pH imbalance, according to the strict requirements such proof must adhere to.
